Transitioning from Bottle to Sippy Cup

  • By Dr. Tanya
  • In Feeding, Nutrition, Exercise, Infants (4 to 12 months)

Between six and nine months is a good time to introduce a sippy cup or straw cup. Start with water and then advance to breast milk or formula. If your baby drinks out of the cup starting at this age then it will be a much smoother transition later on.

After a year old you can get rid of the bottle at any time if they’re drinking well from a cup.
