When to Potty Train

  • By Dr. Tanya
  • In Preschooler (3-5 years), Toddler (1-3 years)

Potty training is a developmental milestone and should not be rushed. For most toddlers it is usually around 2 ½ to 3 years old. Some children may even be older. The children need to be able to know:

  • When they need to go
  • How to get to the bathroom
  • How to get it in potty

Always give positive reinforcement and never discipline a child for not going. You should praise them when they go on the potty. A sticker or stamp is a fun way to reward them.
