Baby's First Walking Shoes

  • By Dr. Tanya
  • In Infants (4 to 12 months), Toddler (1-3 years)

Watching your baby take their first step is a huge milestone. We want to run out and purchase their first pair of walking shoes. When babies learn to walk they use their feet to grip the ground, so it’s best for them to be barefoot.

When will they need shoes?

  • When they’re walking outside
  • When they walk on uneven surfaces
  • Protection from hot and cold surfaces when outside

Baby’s first shoes should be purchased from a trained professional in fitting babies and toddlers.
